Since 1966, the OFF festival and all its actors (artists, companies and venues) have transformed the city of Avignon into a veritable breeding ground for culture, debate and creation. A space for spontaneous artistic creation that developed around the Avignon Festival, on the initiative of André Benedetto. The festival was named "OFF" by the journalist of France soir Jacqueline Cartier, and it has progressively spread throughout the city, and now includes more than a hundred venues. The OFF festival in Avignon is now one of the biggest live performance festivals in the world. The richness and diversity of its artistic proposals make it one of the unmissable events of the summer.
